The Space Cat Project was established in 2019 to make hair education enjoyable again while providing honest, fundamental techniques. The whimsical name is inspired by David Bowie!

The Space Cat Project draws inspiration from David Bowie’s ideas of pushing boundaries, fostering rebellion, and staying relevant with innovative concepts year after year. Through our hair education programs, you’ll discover androgynous styles influenced by the arts, music, architecture, and a spirit of rebellion. We believe that a ‘Project’ is always evolving and thrives on collaboration. We love partnering with fellow hair artists and manufacturers who share our commitment to honest hair education. Our main goal: Suck Less.

Kristina Metzroth

Stylist. Salon Owner. Educator. Game-Changer.

Kristina began her journey in the beauty industry at 15 and has since built a successful career fueled by her passion, purpose, and fearless creativity. With elite training in cutting, coloring, and more, she is not just working behind the chair—she is leading from the front.

As an educator, Kristina conducts hands-on, in-salon classes across the country, empowering stylists with practical, no-nonsense education that they can apply immediately. Her energy is infectious, and her impact is lasting.

Currently, through The SpaceCat Project, she is reigniting the spark in beauty education because learning should be inspiring, not just a checkbox exercise.

Sara ALWIN Gallagher

Sara has worked as an educator at Rusk for 6 years and at Surface Hair for 8 years. During that time, she became the Color Director, creating educational formats and color techniques, as well as working on educational videos and photoshoots.

She has participated in both large and small hair shows across the United States, leading her own classroom on big stages. Some of her favorite memories in the industry include the opportunity to share color techniques with fellow stylists in Ukraine and her 2024 trip to Florence, Italy, for an Avant-Garde photoshoot with Francesca Rivetti to submit to NAHA.

When she is not behind the chair at Alwin Anthony Salon, which she has owned for 16 years, you can find her coaching for The Space Cat Project at salons and hair shows.
